How teams travel
Yes. Air Canada's Jetz service, four Airbus A320s each fitted with 70 business class seats, lists the Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Raptors, Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks among its past and current customers.
A scheduled airline cannot fit a squad, staff and kit around a game-night timetable. A charter leaves when the team is ready, from the airport that suits it.
The NHL has 32 clubs in four divisions of eight. Seven are Canadian, in Montréal, Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver and Winnipeg.
In the CFL, the 2027 season opens on Victoria Day weekend and the regular season runs to week 21 on Thanksgiving weekend. The new playoff format ranks all nine teams regardless of division, and the 114th Grey Cup is on 7 November 2027 at Mosaic Stadium in Regina.

Kit, oversize bags and what to tell us
- Fixture dates and the earliest and latest departure times, including the return after a late game.
- Headcount, including coaches, medical staff and media.
- Kit volume and weights: equipment bags, sticks, medical gear and anything oversized. The operator plans hold space and weight around them.
- Cross-border games: passports for everyone on board, so the operator can plan customs at both ends.
- Preferred airports at both ends, and any catering or dietary needs.
Licences and passenger rules for a group charter
Two federal bodies are involved. Transport Canada certifies the operator, and the Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) licenses the air service and sets the passenger protection rules.
- Nobody may operate an air transport service in Canada without a Transport Canada air operator certificate (CAR 700.02).
- A CTA domestic licence authorises a Canadian carrier to run a publicly available air service within Canada. For international charters, a non-scheduled international licence applies and the carrier must meet the Agency's charter permit requirements before it flies.
- The CTA classes aircraft by passenger capacity: small aircraft carry up to 39 passengers, medium aircraft 40 to 89, and large aircraft more than 89.
- Licensees must hold the minimum passenger and public liability insurance set in sections 7 and 8 of the Air Transportation Regulations, and file a certificate of insurance every year.
- The Air Passenger Protection Regulations apply to a charter when at least one seat is bought for resale to the public and the flight is within Canada, or to or from Canada with at least one passenger whose itinerary began in Canada. Tell us if any seats will be resold, for example in a tour package.

What aircraft suit a full squad?+
A jet airliner such as a 70-seat Jetz A320, or a turboprop airliner such as the Dash 8 or ATR 72 for regional trips.
Can a small team charter a business jet?+
Yes. Heavy jets such as the Challenger 605 and Global 6000 suit small squads and staff groups, at about C$16,870 to C$26,270 per flight hour for the whole aircraft.
When is the 2027 Grey Cup?+
Sunday 7 November 2027 at Mosaic Stadium in Regina. Regina International is 4 km south-west of the city.
