How teams travel
Yes. Premier League clubs charter whole aircraft for European away games. Arsenal, for example, flew from Stansted to Lisbon on a Titan Airways Airbus A321 in March 2023 for a match against Sporting CP.
A scheduled airline cannot carry a squad, staff and kit on a timetable built around kick-off. A charter can, from the airport nearest the training ground.
Football and rugby squads with staff usually fill an Airbus A320 or A321, flown by a UK airline that charters whole aircraft. Smaller squads, such as golf, tennis or motorsport teams, fit a heavy business jet.
