How a helicopter wedding works
Often, yes. In the UK the owner of a piece of ground may use it as a helicopter landing site provided certain conditions are met, so the venue's permission and the operator's site check are what matter. The operator decides on the day based on weather and safety.
Most wedding flights are short: from a nearby airfield or hotel to the venue, or from the venue to the first night's hotel. The helicopter waits or repositions between legs.
The venue gives permission and a clear, level area away from guests and marquees; the operator surveys the site and plans the approach. Many country houses and castles have hosted landings before, so ask the venue first.
A couple fits a light helicopter such as the Bell 206 JetRanger or Robinson R66. Bridal parties of four to six take a Leonardo AW109 or an Airbus H125.
Proposals are usually a scenic flight with a landing at a viewpoint or a hotel. Tell us the plan and we keep it quiet.

What the venue needs
- Written permission from the landowner or venue.
- A clear, level area away from guests, marquees, trees and power lines; the operator confirms the size it needs.
- Someone to keep guests back during landing and take-off.
- A backup plan, such as a car, if low cloud or wind stops the flight.

What a wedding helicopter costs
Helicopters are priced for the whole aircraft by the flight hour, at about £1,200 to £3,500 in the UK, plus positioning from the operator's base and any waiting time. A short arrival or getaway near the operator's base costs least; ask for a fixed all-in price for the day.
