What a wedding helicopter involves
Recent Indian weddings paid about ₹3 lakh to ₹8.5 lakh for a helicopter baraat or vidai: ₹6 lakh in Nuh, Haryana (2025), about ₹8 lakh near Greater Noida, UP (2024) and about ₹8.5 lakh in Jhalawar, Rajasthan (2026). You pay for flying time from the operator's base and back, usually with a 2-hour daily minimum, plus 18% GST.
Wedding flights are often short: the Nuh baraat in 2025 covered 50 km in 15 minutes. The price comes from everything around them: bringing the helicopter from its base, holding it through the ceremony and flying it home.
Single-engine helicopters such as the Bell 407 carry the couple and a few family members. These rent for roughly ₹80,000 to ₹1.5 lakh per flying hour, more in election months.
The landing site matters as much as the helicopter. You need an open, firm area of at least 30 by 30 metres near the venue, the landowner's consent and a notice to the district at least four days before.
For moving guests rather than the couple, see group charter flights. Rates and billing are explained on our helicopter rent page.

Preparing a temporary helipad at the venue
- An open area of at least 30 by 30 metres; 35 by 35 metres is the rule of thumb.
- A white H marking with 3 m legs, a 0.4 m stroke and 1.8 m overall width.
- A wind sock or flag so the pilot can read the wind.
- A 10 m safety area with nothing taller than 1 m, and a clear climb-out path.
- Loose items cleared from about 50 by 50 metres, and the touchdown area watered to keep dust down.
- Guests held back 80 to 100 metres from the landing spot; crowd control is the organiser's job.
- A 12 kg dry powder fire extinguisher and a first aid box; a 500 litre water tank is recommended.
- An ambulance only if the operator asks for one.

Get the timing right
Helicopters fly in daylight, and the operator books your helicopter for a fixed window. In Budaun, UP, in December 2024, the helicopter was booked until 4 PM; the nikah ran late, and the pilot left without the couple because of the evening light and weather.
Plan the flight first and the rituals around it, keep a margin before sunset, and tell the operator if the schedule moves.
