Choose by passengers
One seat per passenger. Small helicopters such as the Robinson R44 take three passengers plus the pilot; the Bell 407 and Airbus H125 take five or six; twins such as the AW139 take up to about 15.
Seat counts come from the passenger seats registered for each aircraft on Indian charter permits (DGCA list, 31 August 2026).
Charter is priced for the whole helicopter by the flight hour, so the best value is the smallest one that fits your group and bags in comfort.
Operators quote passenger seats, with the pilot extra. In the hills, helicopters often carry fewer people than the seats fitted, because thin air cuts the weight they can lift.
