Flying in for Carnival
Santos Dumont (SBRJ), beside Rio's financial centre, takes domestic private flights, general aviation and air taxi. International flights land at Galeão, which handles Rio's international traffic. Helicopters can use Galeão, Santos Dumont and Jacarepaguá day and night.
Carnival is one of the peaks of the year for executive aviation in Rio, alongside the summer and New Year. In 2026 the city expected about eight million residents and visitors over the festival.
The parade order is set. On Sunday 7 February 2027 União de Maricá opens; Mocidade leads off on Monday 8 February; Mangueira closes the last night on Tuesday 9 February.
Santos Dumont has two short runways, of 1,323 m and 1,260 m, and closes from 23:00 to 06:00, so plan arrivals and departures inside those hours.
