Flying private to the big Swiss events

Wengen and Davos in January, St. Moritz in February, Geneva in April, Basel in June and Montreux in July. Each one fills its nearest airport, so parking is the first thing to secure.

Overview

How event travel works in Switzerland

Which airports serve the big Swiss events?

Zurich is the usual gateway for the World Economic Forum, about 90 minutes from Davos by road. Art Basel uses EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse, about 15 minutes from the city. White Turf uses Engadin Airport at Samedan, 5 km from St. Moritz. Watches and Wonders is held at Palexpo, beside Geneva Airport; Montreux is reached from Geneva or Sion, and the Lauberhorn races from Bern, Zurich or Sion.

Swiss event weeks are short and intense. The limiting factor is rarely the jet: it is parking at Zurich during the Forum, the one-hour stopover rule at Basel during Art Basel, and mountain approaches at Samedan.

Each event page sets out the airports, the rules that applied at the last edition and the alternates planners use. Every flight is operated by a certified operator named on your quote.

For the last leg into the mountains, a helicopter avoids winter roads, weather permitting.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Still deciding? A charter specialist will talk you through aircraft, airports and price, with no obligation.

Ask a specialist
How early should I book for Davos?+

Planners advise starting right after the previous Forum ends. Parking requests at Zurich go in months ahead, and late requests are rarely approved.

Can I park at Basel during Art Basel?+

In 2025 most business aviation flights were limited to a one-hour stopover, with no overnight parking on the main ramp. Zurich is the usual parking alternate.

Can any jet land at Samedan?+

Samedan sits at 1,707 m with no instrument landing system. Flights need prior permission and pilots must complete an airport test first.

Do business jets need permission to land at Geneva?+

Yes. General and business aviation flights outside slot coordination need prior permission (PPR) from Genève Aéroport, which can be booked from five days before the flight.

What does a light jet cost in Switzerland?+

Light jets charter at about CHF 3'820 to CHF 6'010 per flight hour for the whole aircraft, before airport, parking and handling charges.
