How the New Year trip works
Yes, at Terravista Airport (SBTV), a private airstrip with a lit 1,500 m runway about 15 minutes by car from Trancoso. It reached capacity over the 2025 to 2026 New Year, so book the slot and overnight parking well before December.
Trancoso is a district of Porto Seguro on the Bahia coast. At New Year the airstrip fills up: in 2020 aircraft queued to land, and in 2025 the slots sold out.
For the 2025 to 2026 season, Terravista said it had reached its limit for overnight aircraft parking and landing slots between 26 December and 4 January. It expected about 7,700 passengers and around 1,690 movements between 20 December and the end of Carnival.
Congestion is not new. On the afternoon of Saturday 26 December 2020, 47 small aircraft landed at Trancoso, Porto Seguro took 95 more, and some pilots circled for over an hour and a half waiting for apron space.

- Flight plans had to be filed at least 24 hours before the estimated off-block time, or they could be refused.
- Terravista (SBTV) and Porto Seguro (SBPS) could not be named as alternate airports.
- Changing destination in flight was not allowed.
- Preferred routes were mandatory.
