How the trip works
Bayreuth Airport (EDQD) is 6.3 km from the city with a 1,034 m runway and Jet A-1, so it suits smaller aircraft once the operator confirms performance. Larger jets land at Nuremberg, about 86 km and an hour by car from Bayreuth.
The festival plays in the Festspielhaus, at Festspielhügel 1 to 2 in Bayreuth. The choice is between a short-runway airfield close by and Nuremberg, an hour away by car.
The 2027 programme has two new productions, Lohengrin conducted by Tarmo Peltokoski and Parsifal conducted by Christian Thielemann, with revivals of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg and Tannhäuser.
Bayreuth's airfield has no scheduled flights and a single asphalt runway of 1,034 m, so we check every aircraft against it before quoting. A turboprop such as the Pilatus PC-12 may fit, subject to the operator's performance check; otherwise a light jet flies you into Nuremberg.
