How the trip works
At Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER), whose general aviation terminal is in Service Area North. BER is about 18 km south-east of the centre, about 20 minutes by Autobahn, but on race day many central roads are closed.
The race is one of the Abbott World Marathon Majors. In 2026 runners from 162 nations started, over 50,000 finished, and the race weekend as a whole had more than 86,000 participants.
Road closures decide the plan. For the 2025 race, Straße des 17. Juni was closed from the weekend before to the Wednesday after, the government district from the Thursday, and on race day the streets along the course in Tiergarten, Mitte and seven other districts until the event ended.
Fly in on the Friday or Saturday, stay within walking distance of the start and fly out once the roads reopen. In 2027 the race falls during Oktoberfest (18 September to 3 October), so Berlin and Munich fit in one trip; see Munich to Berlin and private jet charter to Berlin.
