How Grand Canyon helicopter flights work
About 45 minutes each way from the Las Vegas Strip, landing at Grand Canyon West on Hualapai land. Tours with a landing take about 2 hours 20 minutes to 4.5 hours in all, and shared tours cost $399 to $819 per person in 2026. Helicopters cannot land inside Grand Canyon National Park.
Las Vegas helicopter tours fly to the West Rim. It sits on the Hualapai Reservation, outside the national park, where landings below the rim are allowed.
Federal rules keep tourist helicopters out of the national park's flight-free zones and set minimum altitudes and curfews in the tour corridors. Landing inside the park is prohibited except in emergencies or under a permit.
Maverick flies from its Strip terminal and Papillon from Boulder City. Sundance closed its tour business in 2020 and now flies only corporate and utility charters.
A private helicopter gives you the aircraft to yourselves, with your own timing and a private landing site. It is popular for proposals and weddings.
