Flying private to Art Basel
Miami-Opa Locka Executive (OPF), 10 miles north of Miami, is the main private jet airport for fair week and was the seventh busiest private jet airport in the US in 2025. Miami International (MIA) is about seven miles from the Convention Center, and Fort Lauderdale Executive (FXE) and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood (FLL) are the options to the north.
Art Basel Miami Beach runs from 4 to 6 December 2026, and the 2025 edition drew more than 80,000 visitors. Fair week lands on one of the busiest private jet regions in the US: Opa-locka alone logged 30,207 private jet departures in 2025.
Fair week shows up clearly in the airport numbers. From 1 to 8 December 2013, Opa-locka handled 1,990 private flight arrivals and departures, against 1,550 in the first eight days of November, and the Landmark private jet facility at MIA handled 586, up from 331. In 2018 Miami-Dade's aviation department expected 70 to 100 arrivals a day at Opa-locka, with Thursday and Friday the heaviest days.
There is no FAA slot program for the fair, and Signature says slot restrictions are not typical at MIA and no TFR is in place. The FBOs run their own controls instead. In 2024 Signature required reservations for landing and departure at Opa-locka, gave MIA arrivals specific time slots through a PPR system, and charged an event fee from 2 to 9 December at both airports.

In 2024 Opa-locka required reservations for both landing and departure, and MIA arrivals were given specific time slots through Signature's PPR system.
- 02Budget for the event fee
Signature charged an event fee at OPF and MIA from 2 to 9 December 2024, the days either side of the fair.
- 03Arrive before the rush
VIP days come before the public days (in 2025, VIP days were 3 to 4 December and public days 5 to 7 December). In 2018 Thursday and Friday were the busiest arrival days at Opa-locka.
- 04Look north if Miami is full
Fort Lauderdale Executive has customs until 2359 and four FBOs, and Boca Raton has user fee customs Thursday to Monday.
- 05Keep the FBO updated
Signature asks crews to tell the FBO about any change to arrival or departure times during the event.

Miami International (MIA) is about seven miles from the Convention Center. Opa-locka (OPF), the main private jet airport, is about 13 miles from Miami Beach.
Do I need a reservation to land at Opa-locka during Art Basel?+
In 2024 Signature required reservations for both landing and departure at OPF, and charged an event fee from 2 to 9 December. MIA used a PPR time-slot system. Ask your FBO for the 2026 rules when you book.
